Lobby
A grand room dominated by sweeping double-curved staircases raise up to meet a galley above. A receptionist sits behind a varnished desk hunched over papers. The rest of the space is decorated with garish statues, plants and brightly lit levitating gilded oil lamps that lazily float around.
Grand Room: Succeeding a Wisdom check will dissolve the glamour of grandeur. The wood of the staircase and varnished reception desk decays, the room becomes cold and dim, the statues all have screams stretched across their faces and the plants are all mottled with thorns.
Staircase: Decorated by goblinoid figures holding up the hand railings. The stairs will snap to a sloped angle for any creature ascending the staircase who is not a registered guest and a secret hatch leading to the basement will swing open. Any creature who fails a Dexterity saving throw will slide down the stairs and fall through the hatch.
Gilded Lamps: Metallic diamond shaped oil lamps which float over to any creature detected by one, following them around in public spaces providing a dull yellow light.
The Receptionist
Will greet each entrant and require them to be checked-in to enter the hotel. A reservation may be made by signing their name upon the guest book with a large quill.
"Welcome, our most exquisite guests. How many rooms shall I prepare"
Making a Reservation
The quill draws blood to write with and, something else. Any creature signing the guest book will see the quill marking the parchment with a blood red and suffer 1 necrotic damage and gaining a point of corruption.
Corruption will be a mechanic of this Hotel, creatures gain points whenever they encounter the hotels sinister aspects, different levels of corruption will result in changes and effects as the hotels rot infects them. An example table of effects can be found below until the concept is fleshed out further.
